Mandela Day 2016 by spending time with the children from the Casa de Fe Children’s Home
The staff from the South African Embassy in Buenos Aires chose to celebrate Mandela Day 2016 by spending time with the children from the Casa de Fe Children’s Home in Buenos Aires. Casa de Fe is a small halfway house for vulnerable children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse; etc. In keeping with the themes for Mandela day, namely “Education and Literacy” and “Service and Volunteerism” the staff chose to take the children from Casa de Fe for afternoon outing to the Museo de Los Niños on 19 July 2016
The Ambassador of South Africa to Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, HRH Zenani Dlamini, hosted the country’s Freedom Day Celebrations at the Alvear Hotel on 27 April 2016. This year marks 22 years since South Africa’s historic elections that took place on 27 April 1994, which culminated into the coming into office of South Africa’s first democratically elected leader President Nelson Mandela, liberation struggle stalwart and iconic member of the ruling African National Congress (ANC).
The theme of this year’s celebrations is the South Africa Constitution, the highest law of the country, which was promulgated by President Mandela in 1996.
